Conference highlights

Team work sessions: The conference will have dedicated periods for department teams to work together on the PULSE department assessment rubrics. Teams will also work through exercises that lead towards the development of departmental change action plans, using facilitative leadership and creative problem solving strategies.  PULSE mentors will be available to help departments as they draft plans to take back to their home institutions.

Poster sessions:  Participants will share institutional information and departmental accomplishments in poster format.  There is also the opportunity to present peer-reviewed individual posters highlighting research and innovation in the classroom/lab.

Workshops: Conference participants will develop skills and resources useful for enhancing undergraduate biology education and catalyzing institutional change. Scheduled workshops include sessions on active learning, mentoring faculty, making classrooms more inclusive, transforming the laboratory experience, and sustaining the momentum for department change.
