I am interested in tools for Departmental Transformation. In particular I would like to find a survey tool for faculty, the results of which could be shared with all members of the department. The goal would be to help identify the priorities of faculty, percieved problems with the current curriculum, specific courses faculty feel need to be changed, etc. Having some anonimity helps people get their opinions out in the open and begins the discussion about what kind of changes the department should persue.
The "Taking the PULSE" group is developing rubrics for self-assessment. Once developed, then they may provide a starting point for such discussions
Not totally related to this conversation, but had some questions about the V&C conference this August. Is there a reason that only institutions with an accepted abstract are invited to attend? We submitted an abstract but it was not accepted. We know that we are not at the same place as other institutions in terms of reform, but would be great to see more of what others are doing?
Hi Kristin, the PULSE group is not involved with the organization of the V&C conference that is being offered in August so I do not have an answer to your question.

Faculty Professional Development Summit “Implementing Vision and Change”
The NABT Four-Year College & University Section’s Professional Development Committee invites you to submit a proposal to present your innovative teaching practice as part of the 2013 Faculty Professional Development Summit.
Following up on last year’s summit on Vision and Change, the theme of this year’s summit is “Implementing “Vision and Change.” The Committee seeks to showcase innovative teaching practices from NABT members nationwide that are in keeping with the ideals of Vision and Change, particularly at 2-year and 4-year colleges and universities.
If you would like to share your work in implementing innovative teaching with other biology educators, we encourage you to submit a proposal to the Summit. Please include:

The proposal submission deadline is July 15, 2013. After proposal review by the committee, notifications will be sent out by August 15, 2013. The Summit will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013 at the NABT Professional Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
